The report analyses company and industry performance over the three years up to 7th July 2003. During this period, the average company witnessed a 20.2 percent decline in sales from £12.7 million in 2000/01 to £12.2 million in 2001/02 before ending the three years in 2002/03 at £10.1 million. Pre-tax profits also deteriorated, falling by 101.1 percent from £645,000 in 2000/01 to a pre-tax loss of £7,000 in 2002/03.
