LIST OF DIAGRAMS

1. The UK Market For Corporate Hospitality, 1997-2006 2
2. Proportional Importance Of The UK Market For Corporate Hospitality, By Sector, 2001 14

KEY FINDINGS

1. In 2001, the total value of the UK market for corporate hospitality increased by some 3 percent to reach some £758.9 million (€1 221.8 million). MSI believe that the relatively slow growth during the year was due to slow economic activity, the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 and the foot and mouth crisis.

2. Corporate hospitality has become increasingly targeted, with only guests who have a specific purpose to business outcomes being invited to corporate events and activities.

3. The spectator sports sector of the corporate hospitality market represented the largest proportion of market value throughout the review period. In 2001 this sector accounted for 49 percent of the total market value.

4. Premiership and international football accounted for 18 percent of the total value of the spectator sport sector in 2001. This represented the largest proportion of events in this sector.

5. The bespoke events and activities sector of the corporate hospitality market achieved the highest growth rates out of all sectors of the UK market for corporate hospitality in the period up to 2000. MSI believe that the high growth rate was due to increased demand for diverse and individualistic events and activities. However, this sector of the market was hardest hit by the downturn experienced in 2001.

6. MSI believe that factors which affect demand for the provision of corporate hospitality include:

7. Following a decrease in expenditure on corporate hospitality in 2002, MSI forecast that the value of the market will increase by some 19 percent between 2003 and 2006. The most significant levels of growth are forecast to be apparent in the bespoke events and activities sector of the market. The following diagram illustrates the recent and forecast trends in the corporate hospitality market between 1997 and 2006
