KEY FINDINGS

The total value of the UK partitioning systems market is estimated to have reached £196 million (€316 million) at manufacturers selling prices in 2001, some 2 percent higher than the value in 2000 ·

Demountable systems accounted for the largest proportion of the partitioning systems market in value terms in 2001, commanding 67 percent of the market. Monobloc systems accounted for 20 percent of the market, whilst the remaining 13 percent was represented by operable systems ·

The value of the UK market for demountable systems increased by 10 percent during the review period to reach £132 million (€213 million). Frame and sheet demountable partitioning systems represented 38 percent of the total demountable system market, although glass systems recorded the highest rates of growth during the review period to account for 29 percent of the market in 2001 ·

MSI believe that the UK market for monobloc systems increased by 15 percent between 1997 to 2001 to reach a value of £38 million (€61 million). The operable systems market is estimated to have grown by 30 percent during the review period, to reach £26 million (€42 million) ·

There are a number of important factors that affect demand for partitioning systems, including the level of UK construction activity, the state of the UK economy, architectural trends, workplace design, cost considerations, fire resistance and acoustic insulation performance ·

MSI forecast that there will be continued growth in all sectors of the UK partitioning systems market between 2002 and 2006. Indeed, the market is expected to increase by 17 percent in real terms during the forecast period ·
