EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

1 KEY FINDINGS MSI believe that the UK market for roofing materials increased by some 6 percent between 1998 and 2002 to 105.76 million m². The level of construction activity taking place in the UK throughout the review period, including both new work and refurbishment work, principally affected the volume of roofing materials installed in the UK during the review period.

MSI believe that the demand for metal roofing materials has increased by some 9 percent during the review period. Metal roofing continued to account for the largest proportion of the total roofing materials market in the UK representing some 41 percent of the total in 2002.

MSI forecast that the UK market for roofing materials will increase by some 8 percent between 2003 and 2007. MSI expect that in 2007 the volume of roofing materials sold in the UK will total 116.56 million m².
