KEY FINDINGS ·

The total value of the UK contract floorcoverings market is estimated to have reached £707.2 million (€1 152.7 million) at manufacturers' selling prices in 2001, some 2 percent higher than the value in 2000. ·

Contract carpets accounted for the largest proportion of the contract floorcovering market in value terms in 2001, commanding 61 percent of the market. However, this proportional importance is expected to decrease to 52 percent by 2006, as the proportional importance of smooth floorcoverings increases. ·

MSI forecast that the UK market for contract floorcoverings will increase by some 15 percent in real terms between 2002 and 2006. However, growth is expected to occur within the contract smooth floorcoverings sector at the expense of contract carpet sales. ·
