The report analyses company and industry performance over the three years up to 7th September 2003. During this period, the average Report company witnessed a 3.2 percent increase in sales from £10.2 million in 2000/01 to £10.5 million in 2002/03 although sales were at their strongest in the middle year of analysis. Pre-tax profits increased in all three consecutive years, rising from £562,000 in 2000/01 to £756,000 in 2002/03, an overall improvement of 34.5 percent.
