This Business Ratio report focuses on the leading 163 companies operating in the hotel industry. The report analyses company and industry performance over the three years up to 7th April 2004. During this period, the average company witnessed a 3.3 percent increase in sales from £31.9 million in 2001/02 to £32.7 million in 2002/03 before ending the three years of analysis at £32.9 million. Pre-tax profits declined over the same period however, falling from £2.5 million in 2001/02 to £1.6 million in 2003/04, an overall reduction of 45.9 percent.Profitability
