Profits similarly improved across the Report period, rising by 5.5 percent. In 2002/03 the average Report company realised profits of £59.6 million. Overall the 2000/01 to 2002/03 financial period has proved to be settled for companies operating in the supermarket industry. All areas of ratio analysis have remained relatively stable. Growth however remains strong, with all areas witnessing a positive compound growth figure.
