The report analyses company and industry performance over the three years up to 7th September 2002. During this period, the average Report company has seen sales increase by 18 percent, from £16 million in 1999/2000 to £18.9 million in 2001/02. Profits increased at the similar rate of 18.5 percent, from £568,000 in the first year of analysis to £673,000 in the final year after a decline in the middle year to £550,000. The air conditioning industry has witnessed mixed results over the three years of analysis. Profitability, efficiency and growth ratios have seen both improvements and deterioration, whilst more positively liquidity, gearing and employee performance ratios have all finished the review period with a degree of success. These reasonable results may be attributable to the building and construction industry (to which the air conditioning industry has a direct relationship) that has remained stable in recent years.
