This Business Ratio report focuses on the leading 135 companies operating in the building and civil engineering - major industry. This Report covers companies with a turnover greater than £50 million, a separate Report- building and civil engineering - intermediate profiles companies with a turnover between £5 million and £50 million. This summary brings you a sample of key details from this invaluable report. The report itself includes many further analyses of the performance of individual companies and the industry as a whole. The report analyses company and industry performance over the three years up to 7th April 2003. During this period, the average Report company has seen sales increase by 20.9 percent, from £168.6 million in 2000/01 to £203.8 million in 2002/03. Profits increased at an equally healthy rate of 17.7 percent from £5.3 million in the first year of analysis to £6.3 million in the final year. The Building and civil engineering industry has witnessed reasonable results over the three years analysed. The majority of ratios have witnessed some improvement with the exception of profitability ratios that saw a minimal decline.
