The report analyses company and industry performance over the three years up to 7th April 2003. During this period, the average Report company saw sales increase from £309 million in 2000/01 to £332.8 million in 2002/03 an overall increase of 7.5 percent. Profits, although at high levels, did not fare as well falling from an average of £75 million in the first year to £72.6 million in the latest year. Overall the 2000 to 2003 Report period has proved mixed for the water industry, falls in profitability and gearing have been balanced by improvements in employee ratios and liquidity.
