The report itself includes many further analyses of the performance of individual companies and the industry as a whole. The report analyses company and industry performance over the three years up to 7th May 2003. During this period, the average Report company witnessed a 4.3 percent decline in sales from £14.9 million in 2000/01 to £14.4 million in 2002/03 although there was a recovery from the middle year of analysis when sales were at their lowest. The average company did enjoy a rise in pre-tax profits over the same period however. In 2000/01 profits stood at £286,000, rising to £325,000 in 2002/03, despite a deterioration in the middle year of analysis.
