The report analyses company and industry performance over the three years up to 7th May 2003. During this period, the average Report company witnessed a 5.2 percent increase in sales over the three years, rising from £34.9 million in 2000/01 to £36.1 million in 2001/02 before ending the three years at £36.8 million in 2002/03. Pre-tax profits also improved over the three years although the middle year of analysis was the strongest period. In 2000/01 pre-tax profits stood at £2.2 million which then increased to £2.7 million in 2001/02 before ending the Report period in 2002/03 at £2.3 million, an overall increase of 7.7 percent
